Bill Clinton Opens Up About Donald Trump’s Past Association With Jeffrey Epstein

Bill Clinton Testimony Revives Questions About Donald Trump’s Past Association With Jeffrey Epstein

Congressional Testimony Brings Renewed Attention

During sworn testimony before the House Oversight Committee, former United States president Bill Clinton described a private conversation he said he once had with Donald Trump regarding Trump’s past relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein.

The remarks were delivered during a lengthy deposition in which Clinton answered questions from lawmakers about Epstein and his connections with several prominent public figures.

Clinton’s recollection introduced a new perspective on why Trump and Epstein reportedly ended their association years ago.

The account appears to differ from explanations Trump has previously given in public statements.

Lawmakers Interpret Testimony Differently

Clinton spent several hours responding to questions from members of Congress during the closed-door testimony.

Lawmakers from both political parties attended the deposition and later offered differing interpretations of what his remarks meant.

Some Republican members suggested that the testimony does not directly implicate Trump in any wrongdoing.

Democratic lawmakers, however, said Clinton’s recollection could raise additional questions about how the relationship between Trump and Epstein ended.

Those differences in interpretation quickly became a point of debate following the testimony.

Trump and Epstein Once Shared Social Circles

During the 1990s and early 2000s, Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein were known to move within similar social circles, particularly in New York and Palm Beach.

Photographs from that time period show the two men attending social events and gatherings together.

Some of the images were taken at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida during parties held in the late 1990s.

Public records and media coverage from that era indicate that the two men had known each other for several years.

The relationship was widely viewed at the time as part of the broader network of social and business connections common among wealthy figures in those communities.

A 2002 Interview Offered Insight Into Their Relationship

In a 2002 interview with New York Magazine, Trump spoke about Epstein in a way that suggested they were friendly acquaintances.

At the time, Trump indicated that he had known Epstein for approximately fifteen years.

During the interview, Trump said:

“He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it – Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

The comment reflected the casual tone with which their association was sometimes discussed in public during that period.

Membership at Mar-a-Lago Later Ended

Records later indicated that Epstein held a membership account at Mar-a-Lago for a period of time.

According to previously reported information, that membership account was closed in 2007.

This occurred the year before Epstein entered a guilty plea in Florida related to solicitation involving a minor.

After that point, there appeared to be little public evidence of contact between the two men.

Trump Publicly Distanced Himself Years Later

By 2019, when Epstein was arrested again on federal charges related to sex trafficking, Trump publicly stated that he had not spoken to Epstein in many years.

During remarks to reporters that year, Trump emphasized that he was no longer associated with the financier.

“I was not a fan of his, that I can tell you.”

Trump indicated that the two had not communicated for roughly fifteen years by that time.

Administration Officials Explained the Split

Members of Trump’s administration later repeated the explanation that the relationship had ended because of concerns about Epstein’s behavior.

In July 2025, White House communications director Steven Cheung said that Trump removed Epstein from Mar-a-Lago because he was “a creep.”

Trump later offered an additional explanation when speaking with reporters.

He said that Epstein had allegedly recruited young women who worked at the spa located at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump described that situation as the event that led him to sever ties.

Additional Comments From the White House

The same explanation was reiterated publicly by White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt later that year.

During remarks made in November 2025, she said:

“Jeffrey Epstein was a member at Mar-a-Lago until Trump kicked him out because Jeffrey Epstein was a pedophile and he was a creep.”

The statement reflected the administration’s position that Trump had taken action to distance himself from Epstein.

Clinton Recounts a Different Explanation

During his testimony, Clinton described a conversation that he said occurred years earlier at a charity event.

The event was a golf tournament organized in support of Major League Baseball executive Joe Torre and his Safe at Home Foundation.

The foundation focuses on programs designed to address domestic violence.

The tournament took place at one of Trump’s golf courses in New York and was attended by several notable figures, including Trump, Epstein, and Clinton.

According to Clinton’s recollection, Trump briefly spoke about his history with Epstein during that gathering.

Clinton Describes Trump’s Comment

Clinton told lawmakers that Trump explained the end of the relationship in a way that differed from later public accounts.

According to Clinton, Trump said:

“You know, we had some great times together over the years, but we fell out all because of a real estate deal.”

Clinton also testified that Trump added:

“I’m sorry it happened.”

Lawmakers later asked Clinton whether Trump had presented the falling-out strictly as a business dispute.

Clinton responded:

“That’s what he said.”

Property Dispute in Palm Beach

The explanation Clinton described is consistent with earlier reports about a real estate dispute between Trump and Epstein.

In 2004, the two men reportedly competed in a bidding war for a mansion located in Palm Beach, Florida.

Trump ultimately secured ownership of the property.

After the dispute, there appeared to be little evidence of further interaction between the two men.

The property conflict has occasionally been cited in discussions about the timeline of their relationship.

Different Narratives Continue to Circulate

Clinton’s testimony adds another layer to the long-running discussion surrounding Trump’s past association with Epstein.

Trump and his supporters have consistently maintained that the relationship ended because of concerns about Epstein’s conduct.

Clinton’s recollection, however, suggests that Trump once described the break differently in a private conversation.

The discrepancy has prompted renewed debate among lawmakers and political observers.

Ongoing Public and Political Attention

The historical connections between Epstein and various public figures have remained a topic of public discussion for several years.

Clinton’s testimony has once again drawn attention to the timeline and circumstances surrounding those relationships.

While some lawmakers argue that the differing explanations may have limited significance, others believe the matter deserves additional examination.

As discussions continue in political and public arenas, the history linking Trump, Epstein, and other high-profile individuals remains under scrutiny.

The testimony highlights how past interactions among prominent figures can continue to generate debate years after the events themselves occurred.
