Their communication resumed, and they eventually arranged to meet in person when the cruise ship where he worked docked in Vancouver.

The meeting marked a turning point in their long-standing friendship.

After decades of communication, their relationship began to grow in a new and unexpected way.

On March 21, 2014, Willie Aames and Winnie Hung were married.

Their story drew attention because it began with a fan letter and continued through decades of correspondence before eventually leading to marriage.
