Dylan, who lived in Broulee near Bateman’s Bay, passed away on March 22, only days before his 29th birthday.

His loved ones said they knew his health had been declining for some time, but his passing still came as a devastating shock.

Doctors had previously warned that the seriousness of his condition could significantly shorten his life expectancy.

By mid-2024, the infection had caused extensive complications in his lungs, leaving him dependent on ongoing medical treatment and repeated hospital care.

Dylan’s health problems first became more serious in 2021 when doctors discovered early signs of damage in his lungs.

Over the following years, his condition gradually worsened despite treatment and medical support.

Family members recalled that he often struggled with fatigue, a persistent cough, reflux issues, and the emotional strain that came with ongoing illness.

As his symptoms became more severe, standard treatments were no longer enough, and he eventually required specialist medical care.

His younger sister, Caitlyn, said the family fully realized how serious the illness had become during the middle of last year.

“I found out last July just how bad things had gotten,” she explained.

She said Dylan had already spent several weeks in the hospital during a major health setback.

Medical staff warned the family that timely treatment had likely saved his life during that period.

Repeated Hospital Stays Took a Heavy Toll

In the final stages of his illness, Dylan faced repeated hospital visits and long recovery periods.

Earlier this year, he spent another three weeks receiving treatment after suffering serious complications related to his lung condition.

Following that hospitalization, his health reportedly declined even more rapidly.

He required extensive medication and ongoing medical supervision to manage his symptoms.

Caitlyn said the amount of medication her brother relied on daily became overwhelming for both Dylan and the family.

Despite the difficulties, Dylan continued trying to remain hopeful and focused on recovery.

“He was very sick but still fighting. He really believed he could recover somehow,” Caitlyn shared.

Those closest to him said he remained determined even while facing serious physical challenges.

Family Brought Him Home Before His Passing

Only weeks before his death, Dylan’s mother Suzanne brought him home so he could spend more time with family in a familiar environment.

His beloved puppy, Polar, also remained by his side during that time.

Sadly, those plans were cut short when Dylan passed away just days after returning home.

“He always stood up for people who didn’t have a voice,” she said.

Dylan had recently started learning tattoo art himself and hoped to tattoo both his mother and sister before his health declined further.

“He was my big brother, and I always looked up to him. He was the one to guide me, even if it meant pulling me back when I was making mistakes,” Caitlyn said.

Following Dylan’s passing, loved ones launched a GoFundMe campaign to help the family cover funeral expenses.

The fundraiser set a goal of $6,000 and quickly received support from members of the community.

More than $3,300 has already been raised as friends, relatives, and supporters shared messages of sympathy and encouragement.

On the fundraiser page, Caitlyn urged others to appreciate the time they spend with loved ones.

“This shows how fragile life is. Hold your family close and tell them you love them.”

Many people connected with the message as they reflected on Dylan’s long health struggle and the emotional impact of his loss.

Family friend Cheyenne O’Brien said Dylan’s passing has been difficult for everyone who knew him.

Although people understood he had been seriously unwell, she explained that the loss still felt sudden and heartbreaking.

“Even though we knew he was unwell, it’s still such a shock. His family now has to endure both their loss and the stress of planning his farewell.”

Friends remembered Dylan as someone who continued fighting through difficult circumstances while remaining caring toward the people closest to him.
