After his grandfather died, 11-year-old Leo noticed something about an old painting that none of the adults in the family seemed to recognize. While relatives gathered in the house to discuss the enormous fortune the deceased man had left behind, the boy became convinced that the painting was hiding something.

The family had spent several days at the house following the funeral. Some relatives were focused on mourning, while others were already discussing the future of the wealth the grandfather had accumulated during his lifetime.

His estate included several houses, land, shares, and a family company that he had personally managed for many years. With so much property and money involved, the question of his will quickly became an important subject among the relatives.

The Family Gathered in the Study

A few days after the funeral, the family’s lawyer asked the closest relatives to meet in the grandfather’s study. It was a room that had been especially important to him because he had spent much of his time there.

After the lawyer finished reading the statement, silence filled the study.

The relatives slowly looked toward the eldest son. Only moments earlier, he had been one of the people most actively involved in the discussion about the company and the inheritance.
